However, if you have successfully repaired a carpet before, here is what you need to know. First, the carpet patch should not be too large. Secondly, it is important to check and ensure you have some remnants of the carpet but if you do not have any, you can cut off some portion of the hidden area of the carpet, such as behind door or closet.

The following is the procedure of how to replace patch of carpet.

The tools you need include –

• Utility knife
• Carpet adhesive
• Heavy fabric
• Carpet remnant of the same color, type or pattern.

First, by use of utility knife, cut out a rectangle or triangle around the carpet’s damaged area. Note that most carpets of made of thick dense fabric and cutting through may be a bit difficult. Also, ensure you avoid cutting the padding which is beneath the carpet.

Second, cut out slightly larger carpet of same shape from the remnant or from some hidden part or portion of the carpet.
